I was fortunate enough to be invited in last Friday’s Timex Run 2012 press launch that was held at Cafe La Carmela, located along Jupiter st. in Makati.
Let, and I were there at 10 minutes past 2PM. And in all honesty, I was just happy to spend time with fellow bloggers who run like myself. It was also a way of supporting one of the first races Rio’s team is doing for 2012, and I am a fan of Timex watches too.

The place was not as intimate as I thought it would be. After a few moments of chit-chat at kulitan as each blogger came trickling in. Timex also gave us “I am Running with Piolo” shirts designed by Team Manila, that we all gamely wore throughout the event.

Then Piolo came in and the EVERYONE just went wild taking pictures. I am one of those who wasn’t really jumping for joy when he came in. In other words, nag-inarte lang ako
As soon as the Piolo commotion died down, we were given a chance to ask both Piolo and Rio some questions.

- Bee, the Kamote Runner asking Piolo about his “sub-Piolo”-

Frankly, I was pretty impressed with how Piolo answered our questions. He unabashedly answered ALL of our running and fitness related questions. I was just curious on how he handled his nutrition with his busy schedule. And it turns out that he does not skimp on rice, beef, chicken and fish the way he used to. But, up until now – Piolo does not eat pork. He swears by GU for his long runs and he makes time to train of course.
And when he answers your question, HE LOOKS AT YOU PROFESSIONALLY WITH THOSE DREAMY EYES. Oh di ba? Pwede pala masama sa isang sentence ang word na “professional” and “dreamy”
But, I have to hand it to the guy – he was a good sport throughout the whole event.
Other fun facts about Piolo’s Running Lifestyle:
1. He is planning to beat his own 47-minute Sub-Piolo.
2. He finished his first 21-K in 1:58++ with little training.
3. He is registered for the Berlin marathon this coming September 30, 2012. And is hoping to finish “KUNG ANO MAN TIME AKO UMABOT SA FINISHLINE…” and then following it up with “AROUND 4 HOURS SIGURO” (And I think he can do a really good time with his first 42K.)
4. That like most other runners, he gets TIRED when he’s doing long runs… So, if he doesn’t smile for your camera at 12K-18K – hindi siya nagsu-sungit. Focused lang at pagod din siya. Kahit anong pogi niya, tao din yan – NAPAPAGOD.
And of course, I HAD to ASK Coach Rio, if he still has time to train himself. With his busy sked, he said that he still manages to run two to three times in a week. And I can bet that those two to three times are quality runs pa din.
The bloggers also played Pinoy Henyo, and I am happy to win a very nice Timex watch with my henyo partner, Banjo!

Even before the Timex event, I was already choosing between one of their Timex shock resistant models and with one of the oversized Ironman models… And I end up winning an Oversized Ironman Watch! Pretty awesome indeed.

And I was not going to miss out on a photo-op with Piolo himself!
After this event, he proved that he really IS A SUPERSTAR in his own right. Anyone who has the heart to train and FINISH a 10-K in less than 50 minutes is a champion in my book.
I am DEFINITELY RUNNING with PIOLO this coming Sunday! How about you? You still have this week to REGISTER!
